A day in the life of Raw Debbie - Part II

Yesterday was a much better day. However, I did feel a lot of internal swelling and bloating. It made me look tired and frumpy. I started taking a natural supplemental enzyme before each meal yesterday to help - which it did; and I added physillium husk to my smoothies. Spiritually I felt fine and productive. I've been reading a lot of wonderful posts over the past few days, so that has kept me on the up-an-up mentally. The mind is a powerful tool for healing...and when I feel the way I do physically, sometimes my thoughts are all I have to make me feel better. I realize my IBS is acting up again. This proves everything that Paul Nison has been talking about - that just because you eat a raw food diet (even though it's the best choice overall) you can still be sick and not thrive on it the diet without proper balance, and finding out what your body needs for that balance. Blood work is the only way - which means I need to get some updated blood work done.

I know I have had my cheats, and I'm not sleeping enough, or getting enough exercise - but, I also know that it's possible I'm not balancing what I eat to the best that I can for my body's personal needs. I notice that I do best when I don't eat a lot of dehydrated foods, or spices. Although I love it all, it doesn't necessarily show the love back. I do best with dark leafy greens, smoothies, smoothies, and more smoothies, and lots of fresh raw fruit! I also need to work on the emotional balance in my life as it relates to food. That's been a long-term need. I really do try not to let things get to me, but sometimes I find them getting to me through food...which then leads to my body's "emotional" upset. Penni Shelton, of Raw Food Rehab, shared a great post today on her blog about changing your thoughts as being the ultimate key to weight loss and overall body health...she shared a book she read called *Taming the Feast Beast* How to Recognize the Voice of Fatness & End Your Struggle with Food Forever. I think it's a great tool. I'll share more on this topic at a later date.

I have to get ready for work, so I'll make this a bit brief for today. Here's what I ate, and what I felt about it:

1 glass fresh squeezed lemon with MSM (I do this daily - it's great!)

1 glass of fruit/superfood smoothie (cacao, mesquite, lucuma, maca, camu camu, vanilla bean, protein powder, cinnamon, ginger, coconut butter, hemp oil, hemp seed, raw honey, raw almond butter, bee pollen, bananas, pineapple chunks, blueberries, coconut water, filtered water, stevia) (this smoothie always gets me going in the morning)

1 big fruit bowl (banana, blueberries, tangerines, plums, kiwi, bee pollen, hemp seed, cacao nibs, stevia)

2-roll-ups (2 Ezykle tortillas, a large mix of red chard, bok choy, mixed herb lettuce, and micro greens, heirloom tomato, and Amy's Organic Goddess dressing) I only used a little bit of the dressing. (These are filling and taste fresh. However, although the tortillas are gluten free and sugar free, and have no flour - strictly sprouted, I'm not sure if this is bothering my digestive system or not).

1 handfull raw corn chips (always a treat)

1 Amazing Grass Bar (chocolate flavored). (This is considered a raw bar, but can be heavy at times, but filling).

1/4 cup my homemade raw chocolate ice cream (cashew, coconut, banana, cacao, mesquite, lucuma, stevia, honey, sea salt) (my treat)

1 glass green smoothie (spinach, banana, mango, pineapple, coconut water, stevia, honey, green superfood powder) (the best meal ever!)

1 chard roll-up (1 leaf chard, jungle peanut pate - parsley, jungle peanuts soaked, walnuts, spices, lettuce, and micro sprouts) (probably could have passed on eating this, since the smoothie filled me up, and I was still a little bloated)

1 small handful wheat chips (although organic, they are still processed chips, and I think they bother my stomach - but the salt in them is addicting and it's sea salt)

3 cups tea (natural ginger teas)

So there you have it. Today is another day, which I feel will be blessed. I will make an effort to post more tonight.

Have a great day!
Peace!=)
