It's been almost a year since I blogged, and it was when I did a cleanse. So here I am, cleansing again!

Today is day 1 of my "Master Cleanse" phase of my reboot program. Just as before I plan to do the Master Cleanse phase for about 7 to 10 days. Then from there I will kick into my juice feasting phase, which I hope to go for about another 5 to 7 days. Then add in the smoothies, raw soups for another few days, then raw salads, and the like. However, this time when I'm done with this initial reboot program I plan to incorporate some new healthier habits to the daily regime.

I finally started up yoga again about 6 weeks ago. I'm so glad I did. It's been great, and my body is truly loving me for it. The last time I took a yoga class was in late 2009 (I believe). I still have been weight lifting/exercising consistently for 3 to 4 times a week for over a year now. It's truly made a difference. Even though I gained back a lot of weight over the past year, it's definitely distributed better thanks to exercise. It's just, I'm over weight - by about 60 pounds! I'm hoping by rebooting, and making modifications to my daily diet regime, and through more yoga, changing up some of my exercise routines, I will start having a healthy, lean body again! That's the goal!

Well, need to close for now. On my way to yoga...

Peace!:)
My workouts have been good and balanced. Unfortunately I have been unable to get the amount of cardio I want due to my chronic back pain. However, I still manage to get at least 20 to 30 minutes of walking on the treadmill on an incline, each time I'm at the gym, in addition to my strength and weight lifting exercises. Plus now I've added at least an additional 15 to 20 minute stationary bike ride to that routine. My issue is that I'm not losing weight. In fact, over the past few months I've gained weight. Or should I say, "I gained back the weight I had lost." It's all very frustrating.

I'm still eating super healthy, keeping it mostly raw veggies and fresh fruit. Don't get me wrong, I have my moments at least a few times a week where I will slip in some "not so healthy" goodies. However, the overall should not make that much difference - I know my body. Or at least I used to know my body. Perhaps my body is going through new changes with age. I'm still not getting the adequate rest I need. That could be a big factor! Plus I have had more stress than usual...again. That could also be adding to it. In addition, muscle weighs more than fat, so that could be a part of it. I'm drinking my recovery smoothie too late at night, but we work out late in the evening...that could all be contributing factors. So what to do? How do I break this frustrating plateau to get back on track and start losing weight?

I'm hoping to have the money later this month to have my very first series of colon hydrotherapy sessions (colonics). From everything I've researched, it may help me out a lot. Especially since I have IBS. When I do this, I plan to start another juice cleanse. I think it's just the thing I need to reboot. So that's my current plan.

Any suggestions to help me break this stagnant physical position I'm in? I'm open to new ideas (within reason). Let me hear from you.

Thanks for reading...check back!

Peace! :)
DebbieRaw-Riffic Foodhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05150874452120707881noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2102084248009634533.post-33672511153753054982012-10-17T07:53:00.000-07:002012-10-17T07:53:19.725-07:00Round 2: Cleansing again...So it's been about two weeks or so since I blogged last. Just to fill you in, I have been juicing every day, with the exception of this past Saturday. I have kept mostly raw, and mostly vegan. I only had four separate meals during this whole time where I wasn't totally vegan. When we went to visit my son in Flagstaff we went for sushi one night, then one day we had breakfast with him, which I ate an egg white omelette with fresh veggies such as spinach, onion, tomato, and zucchini. Then this past weekend I had one meal of sushi, and a homemade egg white veggie omelette. Other than that my meals have been on a 90+ vegan (since I eat honey a lot), and only about 8 meals in which the food was heated - so I've been a hi raw girl now for a while.

Anyway, I decided to attempt something challenging for myself. I decided that I would cleanse about once a month for about 7 to 10 days, every month, until March. I just want to see where it will take me. So this Monday I started my second cleanse in my "Reboot" program. I call it "Round 2". I'm hoping to cleanse for at least 10 days. If not, I will cleanse through this weekend, then break into a juice feast for about 2-3 days, then back on my raw food lifestyle. It all depends on whether or not we visit my son again in Flagstaff, and go fishing. We shall see. For now, I'm already on day 3 of the cleanse.

I'm down 4 pounds already, but I think half of it is from water. I've had some challenges with drinking enough of the fluids. I'm just not hungry/thirsty. I'm still drinking plenty to stay hydrated, just not drinking enough of the "energy" fluids, so I'm a bit lethargic and foggy. Hopefully today I can drink more for energy, so that I can exercise. I wasn't able to yesterday because I didn't have enough energy. It's important to drink the fluids that give you energy, whether it be the lemonade drink, or fresh juices, you need it for the nutrients and the energy.

Well, I don't know if I will blog daily this time, but I will check in as much as possible. On that note, stay healthy, eat fresh live food, and be happy!

Till next time! Peace!=)
On Saturday, I had a very nice day making my juices,
shopping for fresh produce, and making a delicious Arugula Pesto Pasta – all
raw! I also prepared a recipe I found on MeganElizabeth.com for apple carrot
date bites. Oh so good! So in a nutshell, this is what I ate Saturday:

Green Lemonade

Apple, Carrot Date Bites
Chia crackers with coconut butter and honey
Arugula Pesto Pasta (basically zucchinis, Arugula, and mixed
veggies – recipe to be available soon)
Raw ice cream chocolate-vanilla shake
Herbal tea

I did make my husband some delicious carrot apple juice –
his favorite!

For Sunday, I picked up my kitty from my friend’s house then
got to work prepping food for the week. I froze chopped banana, pineapple, and
fresh coconut meat. For meals I had my usual green lemonade, and I had Mango
Lemonade – oh was that ever good! Later I had fresh grapes, chia crackers and
flax crackers with almond butter, honey, and a touch of pink Himalayan salt.
Oh, I remember, I also prepared a fruit pudding. Here’s the recipe I created:

Chunky Fruit Pudding.

The Pudding.
Ingredients:
1 cup chopped fresh pineapple chunks
1 cup frozen strawberries
2 large pitted Medjool Dates
(Blend in blender till smooth, add water if necessary)

The Fruit Bowl.

Ingredients:
1 banana sliced
5 figs sliced
1 T cacao nibs
1 T dried organic coconut shredded coconut
2 tsp chia seeds

Assemble the fruit pudding:

Place fruit slices in a bowl. Pour pudding over top. Garnish
with more shredded coconut flakes and serve.

For today, Monday, I had prepared a super delicious
watermelon and black grape juice. It was so perfect. I have some for tomorrow
too! I also made my husband the carrot apple, but I didn’t have my usual green
lemonade. Instead, today I made a morning green smoothie. Here’s what was in it:

Green Smoothie with Figs.

Ingredients:
2 bananas
4 figs
1 handful of red grapes
2-3 handfuls of Romaine lettuce
½ cup or more of fresh Young Thai coconut water

This smoothie was super energizing and so good! You couldn’t
even taste the greens. Just fresh and smooth! This was definitely a
meal-replacer, as I was full till lunch time.

For lunch I had made a raw Romaine hoagie – just like what
MeganElizabeth.com created. The only difference is I made a small veggie salad
mix with greens that I shoved in my lettuce head, instead of cut veggie slices.
It was terrific and also super filling! Then tonight I went ahead and indulged
in another raw ice cream shake – except no bananas, no added fudge – I still
was slightly bloated, but not any more. Obviously, it’s the nuts that are
getting to me. We’ll have to work on that.

Tomorrow I’ll be having my green lemonade, the watermelon
black grape juice, and then my version of a raw sushi roll (no fish), using
seaweed salad, carrots as the rice, and cucumber. It is so yummy.

Till next time. Have a great evening, and a Super Tuesday!!!

Blessings! =)

The only thing I didn't manage to drink again was the carrot apple juice, which I gave to a co-worker. Then this evening I made myself a delicious shake again. This time I used my newly made raw Mexican spicy chocolate-vanilla swirl ice cream. All I added to it was some fresh Thai coconut meat, and some fresh Thai coconut water. Oh my goodness was it ever so good!!! The key to this delicious ice cream shake was the fact that the ice cream base was made with Brazil nuts instead of my usual cashews. Wow! You got to try it!!!

As I'm blogging I'm making some more flax and chia crackers in the dehydrator. I'm going through those crackers pretty darn quickly since that is my "chip" of choice. I'm also planning what to make for my solid meal tomorrow. I've been viewing several great videos by Fully Raw Kristina. She is so adorable, talented, and informative. Just love that young lady. I'm also looking through several of my wonderful raw recipe books too. I have so many to look at! I've decided to make a fettuccine/pesto pasta using up the zucchinis and yellow squashes I have. I'd also like to use the fresh arugula I brought home from Trader Joes too. I think that would be the perfect meal for me tomorrow. I'll let you know how it turns out.

Tonight was also exercise night. I did okay, but I'm still trying to improve on my energy. The main issue I'm having is "lack of sufficient" sleep. I still very relaxed, and very happy with my progress and the future. I really feel good about things.

Well, I'm going to sign off for now. David and I plan to watch a movie tonight, and get to bed somewhat early (even though it's Friday). Then tomorrow it's juice time, raw meal making, a trip to the Asian market, and Kitty-cat play date with my friend's cat Muffin. I just know Samantha will have fun. Our Samantha is getting so socialized that she likes leaving for visits as long as she gets to come home afterwards...

So that's it. Hope you all have a super evening, and a super weekend! Till next time.

It's so nice to be back in this place and space in my life. Eating 99% raw food diet really feels and looks good on me. I've been very focused and disciplined - as I continue to drink mostly raw juices everyday with one small salad in the afternoon. Eventually I will add in more smoothies, and such for convenience. But I'm really loving this feeling. I haven't gained back any of the weight I lost on the Master Cleanse, which means I've truly can keep that weight off and continue going down on the pounds.

Yesterday, as always, I started of with my green lemonade. Next up was a delicious apple grape (which you already knew from the post before). I have to make a comment about this though. I made the mistake of drinking two tall glasses in a row because I made too much. This bloated me and made me uncomfortable for a little over two hours. I should have given away the second glass, or saved it for later in the day. Anyway, I learned from that. DO NOT OVEREAT, no matter what it is! Later in the afternoon I had my wild rice salad, but I never had my carrot apple juice I made. I just couldn't. So I gave it away. However, for dinner I made a superfood shake. It was very delicious, but it did bloat me some. I didn't use any nuts or seeds, but I believe it was the coconut meat with banana - possibly. The shake consisted of coconut meat, banana, a few cherries, a few chunks of pineapple, cacao nibs, my raw fudge sauce, goji berries, acai powder, ice and water. Perhaps I drank it too fast, not really sure. I'm still trying to determine the bloat issues. Oh, and of course, I ate flax and chia crackers for snacks.

Today I have planned to drink coconut cucumber juice, a fresh batch of apple carrot juice, another rice salad (the last one for now), and of course my green lemonade, and the chia and flax crackers. I've made some delicious raw Mexican chocolate ice cream made with Brazil nuts. Maybe I'll have that in a shake tonight - we'll see. I'm planning on making some other dishes to have as my solid meal, and possibly start incorporating smoothies into the mix. We'll see. I started reading Doug Graham's book The 80/10/10 Diet. I've read it before, but this time I seem to be more intuned with the information. I may consider following his recipe guidelines for a week or so. It may be a safe way to incorporate more smoothies and such. My biggest issue is the bloating which comes from my IBS issues. I have definitely improved since I've started this reboot. But with each time that I add another type of food into the mix, I start to experience some light IBS symptoms again. So I'm going to take it slow. Hell, I don't mind losing the weight, I need it bad! Lol!

Well, till next time. Enjoy your Friday, and have a great weekend too! I'll write soon!
I got through my first day back at work, and eating a 100% raw food diet. I woke up this morning and had my green lemonade as always. When I got to work I drank some water, and then around mid-morning I drank my carrot, orange, pineapple juice. Boy was that every yummy. Then for lunch I ate a watercress and beet salad - the same recipe from Going Raw that I made for my Mom and I on Sunday. I really like that salad. Speaking of the salad, I did get a bit of indigestion. I feel that it was probably from a few things, maybe in combination, or just one or two of them. But anyway, the avocado, the onion, and the miso, I believe could have contributed to my bloatedness today. I know that the corn and avocado I ate the day before did not digest well as it was in my bowel movements this morning. So I have decided not to eat those foods for a while to see how I feel.

Throughout the remainder of the day I drank water, and ate a few flax crackers plain. That seemed to satisfy me just fine. When I got home I exercised and drank more water. Then for my last meal of the day I decided to have another cashew ice cream shake. This time I elminated the almond nut milk, but kept the banana. I feel like the almond milk is giving me issues too, so I'm going to hold off from having it for a while. However, I did discover after having my shake that I still had some bloating. I realized that I was eating a banana with a nut-based food. Nuts and bananas do not exactly go well. So, I won't be having that combination again for a while either. All in all I feel it was a great day for eating raw.

Tomorrow I have planned my three juices. The first, as always, being my green lemonade. Then next up will be my favorite watermelon and strawberry juice. I made a very large jar of this one. Then I have a smaller juice jar filled with carrot apple for a late day snack. I haven't decided what lunch will be yet. I'm not sure if I can handle another salad. I might try something like wild rice, broccoli and mushrooms, but I fear that the broccoli may give me issues. Maybe I'll just bring fruit. We'll see.

Well, that's all for now. Have a great evening and a super Wednesday tomorrow. Oh, before I forget. Tomorrow I get to pick up my freezer! I can't wait!

TIll next time.
The reboot, I feel, has been a success, and I am continuing with juicing and eating a high raw diet. Today I started my moring off with the usual lemon water, and then straight to the green lemonade. I'm really getting used to drinking the fresh green lemonade every morning instead of the old fruit smoothie I used to do. Then, I had a delicious pear, apple, and grape juice for my mid-morning fruit snack.

Because I went with my husband to the doctor, we didn't get to have a lunch until very late this afternoon. At which time I ate a small avocado salad that included heirloom cherry tomatoes, red onion, zucchini, fresh raw corn, parsley, and I placed it on top of a small amount of freshly bloomed wild rice - organic wild rice. I also ate a few more of my delicious flax crackers. So I decided, since I'm still full, I'm planning to have a dessert shake instead of another juice. Tonight I plan to have a raw ice cream shake and try out my raw ice cream with raw fudge, and raw nut milk. I can't wait!

For tomorrow, since it's my first day back to work, I plan to prepare two juices tonight, and some type of salad for tomorrow. I will drink my green lemonade in the morning, but will take my fruit juice to work. It will consist of pineapple, oranges, and carrots - yummy! For my salad, I have no idea yet. We'll see about it later. Well, until tomorrow. Have a great evening and a great Tuesday!

DebbieRaw-Riffic Foodhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05150874452120707881noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2102084248009634533.post-75334002251061163002012-09-09T18:46:00.000-07:002012-09-09T18:46:17.076-07:00Reboot: First day of raw salads and juiceLast night I finished the 3-day juice feast with a delicious combination of 12 large carrots, 1 red bell pepper, 2 large beefy tomatoes, 6-8 stalks of kale, 1/2 bunch of parsley, and 1 big bunch of spinach. It tasted better than a V8, and was so filling. So my 3-day juice feast was a success, and I couldn't wait for today to come to start my salads.

So this morning I started my day off with the usual lemon water, and then the green lemonade, less the lemon. This drink has truly become a staple for me.

Today was a super special transition day since I decided to share my first raw salads with my Mom. I wanted to share my raw foods with her so she can see why I love to eat this way - and it worked! Today's menu included the following items:

Kale salad (flat kale, tomatoes, dried cranberries, my seed mixture, and a light raw dressing)
Beet and Watercress Salad with Sweet Miso Dressing (straight from page 79 of Judita's book Going Raw)
Raw carrot cake with a lemon cashew creme topping (carrot pulp, walnuts, dates, spices; cashews, agave, lemon, spices)
Flax cracker
Herbed Cashew Hemp Cheese (page 100 of Judita's Going Raw book)
Apple-Grape Juice

In addition to this marvelous lunch (which I gave my Mom the leftovers), I made her fresh sweet almond milk, and my chocolate-swirl raw ice cream with raw fudge sauce. My Mom was so impressed with the spread, and truly loved the flavors - especially the ice cream. She wanted to learn more. So we spent a good hour or two just talking food - my favorite subject!

When I got home I had some flax crackers with nut cheese spread and some fresh sliced figs. Then I ended my day's meals with a delicious papaya, pineapple, banana, honey and cacao nib smoothie. It was so yummy and filling. I just need to tell you, when I opened the papaya it had a swarm of sprouted seeds inside. At first I was shocked and concerned. But after reading several forums I decided to indulge, and I'm glad I did. The papaya was so perfectly sweet, it was amazing!

I can't wait for tomorrow to try out some new goodies. It's fun starting my raw food journey all over again. This time I'm more prepared, and definitely more focused. Till then. Have a wonderful evening, and a super tomorrow!

Once again I started the morning off with a glass of fresh lemon juice and room temperature water. Next I went straight into having the green lemonade. Since I had a whole extra jar of the watermelon strawberry from the day before I drank that for my fruit juice. Then later in the day I made a delicious green juice I found on FB from the Cleanse America group. You should check this group out. Great leaders such as Penni Shelton, Anthony Anderson (Raw Model), and many more have formed this alliance to help people get juicy and reboot for health. They provide support, recipes, and a lot more. So check it out! So back to the juice, I had 3 oranges, cucumber, 2 cups of spinach, and about 2" of fresh ginger. Boy was that ever good! So finally, the last juice of the day was my old time favorite, carrot and apple. You can never go wrong with fresh carrots and apples! As for snacking, I had the usual chia and flax crackers, and I had a handful of some dehydrated mix seeds with spices. A recipe that I got out of Judita Wignall's Going Raw book. So the juicy day went very well.

The interesting thing about Day 2 was, not to be gross, the bowel movements. I had a lot more activity there than I had had in days. I actually felt like the juicing was pushing out more of the garbage that has been left in my intestines along with whatever crackers I ate. Cause afterall, I'm still not eating enough solids to warrant anything major. So, the juicing is really working on the detox front. Weight is still down by 12, and energy is still way up. In fact, I exercised again yesterday, and each time I do, I feel better and better. So I know this is all working for me. I'm trying really hard to be disciplined without being obsessive. I can do that to myself. I don't want to be afraid to eat, and I don't want to think I can just sneak food here and there either. I want it to be enjoyable, and healthful.

So today is Day 3 of juicing. I'm starting out the usual way, lemon water, and then right to the green lemonade. I'm not sure yet what I will have for my fruit juice, but I'm sure it will be something good. I'm working on my meal plans today, as tomorrow I will start consuming raw salads, and such. I made some nut cheese (recipe from Going Raw), and I have my crackers and seeds ready for snacking. I plan to make a raw carrot cake using the carrot pulp too. Part of this transition will also be preparing me for when I go back to work on Tuesday. Being off work has made it very easy to do the juicing, but once work starts it will be a challenge. I'm thinking about juicing the night before and storing it in a jar for the next morning. I need to have my meals and snacks planned so I don't feel tempted whatsoever to grab something processed and easy. Even if it's so called organic and vegan, doesn't mean it's not processed and not optimal. Once in a while is okay, but I was doing that all the time. That's how I gained back the weight.

Well, I don't know what the evening juice will be yet either, but I will definitely post it next time. Until then, have a blessed and juicy day!

Peace!=)
I completed a full 10 days of the Master Cleanse, and I feel great, successful, and empowered. I started my juice feast today, and so far so good. I started with a glass of lemon water at room temperature. My first juice for the day came from Natalia Rose's book Raw Detox, called the Green Lemonade. This juice consisted of romaine, celery, kale, apples, lemon, and ginger. It was super filling and delicious too. The only complaint I have is that since it was my first juice I had a slight bit of bloating and gas. So I slowed down the drinking of it and finished it in about an hour.

To get me started for the next few days, I went ahead and cracked open all my coconuts, saved the meat in the freezer, and placed the water in the fridge. I made chia crackers, flax crackers, and spicy zucchini chips (a recipe I got from Judita Wignall's book Going Raw. These are great snacks to have that don't hurt your tummy, provide super amounts of nutrition, and they keep for quite a long time. So throughout the day I probably nibbled on about 6 small chia crackers, and about 4 small flax crackers, and a handful of the spicy zucchini chips. Yum-yum!!!

Later on in the day I had a super delicious watermelon and strawberry juice. I shared this one with my hubby, and I have enough for one more drink tomorrow. I love, love, love watermelon. It energzes me, and I never feel bloated or bad afterwards. Love that stuff! Next up was a delicious and simple juice of fresh coconut water and cucumber. Very simple, very smooth, and refreshing too.

For the last juice of the night I plan to juice a combination of kale, broccoli, spinach, and carrot. This will be like my dinner salad in a glass with super nutrition through and through. I'm waiting to make it because I'm still full from the other juices today. My tummy has shrunk from the Master Cleanse. Lol...oh well, that's what I wanted...

I will end the day with a nice warm cup of tea, preferably senna tea to help with my continued detoxifcation. Tomorrow I plan to try some other interesting and yummy juices, so come back by my blogspot and check it out.

Until next time. Have a wonderfully healthy and blessed day!

Peace! =)
I made it! It’s day 10 and I feel great! I’ve lost 12
pounds, and I haven’t suffered from any IBS issues this entire time. No spasms,
no pains, nothing. My skin feels like, soft, and alive. My whole body feels
great, and so does my spirit. I’m ready to take on the next step which is my

I have to say that I'm very proud of myself for going through this experience. Although I've done this before, it's been about 2-3 years. When I have done the cleanse in the past I did it just to do it, and was quite happy with where I was at, but not disciplined in the way of true passion and commitment. This time I'm doing it for me and really reaping the benefits of it. Don't get me wrong, I definitely benefited from it before, but this time has more meaning to me.

You see as I've shared in previous posts I had somewhat fallen off the wagon, and put other things ahead of my optimal health. Although I was eating and living healthfully overall, I wasn't living and eating optimally. So I suffered for it. I gained back all my weight and then a few. My skin still was clear and soft, but my color wasn't best, and I was looking old and tired - cause I was. This time around doing the cleanse and working on my personal reboot has been both challenging, spiritual, inspirational, and empowering for me personally. I have stuck with this without complaint. I have not made any excuses or comments neither negative or positive to pressure me or to make me lose focus. I truly have been committed to this, and have had the support from my husband without any feelings of guilt or feelings that I'm wasting time. I feel energized, I feel alive, and I feel like I'm on the path to true recovery. This time I'm working for keeps. I plan to be more realistic, and more honest with myself. I want to be a mentor to myself. I want to set a real example. And most of all I want to feel good about what I'm doing - and I do.

As for weight loss, I have lost 11 pounds so far since starting this cleanse. Obviously I have a lot more to go. But I'm off to a good start. I plan to go the full 10 days, and break into a juice feast for about 2 to 3 days. Then I will begin a high vegan raw diet - this time I mean "high raw". I'm actually excited about my upcoming transitions. As for energy, I am able to exercise with the energy and agility that I had before, but this time feeling good afterwards, and not sluggish and in pain. I seem to sleep better once I go to sleep - which is a big plus. Now if only I could make myself go to better earlier. I'm working on that one.

Well, I would love to write more but I have to get ready for work. Day 9 and 10 will be spent working. So I really need to stay focused and drink lots of water. It's easy to cleanse and fast when you are at home and relaxed. It's more challenging when you have to be places...but you can do it. I am. Have a great a wonderful day!

Blessings to all!
I'm feeling great and energized. I haven't been hungry at all. Although I have been a bit bored with my drink. However, planning for my juice feast, and then for my raw transition has been fun. I've lost 8 pounds so far, which I feel real good about. It makes me feel light and ready to lose more. Detoxing can be great!

So over the past three days I have been revisiting my personal library of health books, and have been rereading my Natalia Rose books. The Raw Food Detox Diet is an excellent book and resource for detoxing and making a transition from a SAD diet, or even the cleanse. There is so much valuable information, and great recipes too! Another great detox book by Natalia is Detox 4 Women. Another great book for detoxing and cleansing is Penni Shelton's Raw Food Cleanse. I really love that Penni, she is just such a great inspiration and a very sweet person. Penni has been very successful with her website support community, Raw Food Rehab, that formed from the Raw Food Cleanse book project.

I've also been looking through my various juice books, vegan recipe books, and raw food recipe books planning out the juices, and meals I'd like to have. I truly enjoy doing that. I'm so happy to be getting back to my raw basics, and feeling good and inspired. It reminds me of when I first took this journey back in August of 2007. What an incredible journey it has been.

Well, I'm going to close for now. We have been getting things in order, setting up the office and spare bathroom, and deciding what we need and don't need to make our place a functioning and pleasant place to be. Later it's movie night!

Have a great evening and holiday weekend. I can't guarantee I will blog tomorrow, but for sure sometime on Monday. Till then!

Blessings to all! =) DebbieRaw-Riffic Foodhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05150874452120707881noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2102084248009634533.post-51775206754798977912012-08-30T07:56:00.001-07:002012-08-30T07:56:46.044-07:00Master Cleanse: Day 3 to 4Day 3 went quite well. Although I have to say I had a very difficult time drinking enough lemonade, so I ended up drinking large amounts of water to make up for it. As for weakness, I didn't feel bad at all, I did get tired around lunch time as I always do. Which I found funny since I wasn't eating anything to spike my levels and bring me down. I think I'm just tired from not getting enough sleep still. I have had a small bit of brain fog, but overall feeling quite well.

I continue to plan my transition from cleanse to juice to food. It's always fun for me to plan meals and such. I have a real affection for it. Fortunately I'm not making myself crazy by the fact that I can't eat these meals until the cleanse is done. I've decided to end the cleanse on day 8 to start my 3-day juice feast. Who knows it may go longer, we'll see. We are getting our juicer replacement parts, so I'm anxious to start juicing again. So is my husband for that matter, and that makes me happy.

Today is day 4, and I've decided to not do the salt flush this morning. Instead I am having more of my herbal tea. I know it's going to be a difficult day to drink the lemonade, as I have absolutely no desire to at all. The only thing I'm really craving is water right now. I'm still not having the movements I expected, but I'm slowly having more activity. Although it's quite watery and full of mucus. I'm definitely urinating a lot more due to all the water and liquid I've been consuming. Cramping is still minimal, which I'm actually thankful for. So today I think will be a heavy water day for me. Hopefully tomorrow I'll be able to drink more lemonade. We'll see. I truly want to get to 8 days.

The good news I've lost 5 pounds in 4 days. Granted, most of it is water weight, but I'll take it. I haven't been able to lose even 2 pounds in over a year, so I'm grateful for whatever boost I can get to start losing weight again, and get back to my healthy size. Well, that's it for today. I'll write more tomorrow. Thanks for following me and sharing in my cleanse experience. Make it a great day!

On Day 2 of my Master Cleanse I dealt with bouts of energy
highs and lows. Although I was able to control my hunger with the lemonade, as
well as water, I found myself thinking a lot about food – fresh food. I started
looking at recipes, and food magazines while at the store buying lemons. Food
was on the brain big time!

One thing I really love about cleansing, that I have started
to feel, is the tingly feeling I get on my skin when I feel light and fresh.
It’s hard to explain, but my skin feels so alive and smooth, and fresh. It’s
weird, but I love that feeling! You can also get that feeling from drinking
lots and lots of water, especially distilled water, and only eating water based
raw foods. It feels amazing!

My other challenge on Day 2 was exercising. Although I
didn’t necessarily feel tired. I did feel somewhat weak and lethargic. So I
made sure not to over extend myself while riding the recumbent bike, and doing
my yoga. Needless to say, I still felt like I had a hard workout…ugh…I know it
will only get better…

It’s Day 3 and I have to say, although I’m not really
hungry, I am getting tired of the lemonade drink already. Not a good sign,
since that’s the only thing I can have in place of food. I decided I’m going to
drink lots of water, and hopefully by lunch time I’ll be ready to drink more
lemonade. I need it so I don’t get sleepy and weak. The water helps with that
too.

As far as my detoxing symptoms, I haven’t really had much
yet. I expected to have a lot more stuff released from my body. But so far it’s
been minimal. I even increased the dosage of my salt flush in the morning and
the herb laxative teas at night and during the day. It’s just not happening for
me in a big way like I expected. Usually excessive weight gain is a sign of
food not breaking down and leaving the body, so it gets stored as fat. So what
the hell, I’ve got that extra poundage right now. Why is it not releasing
faster? Is it because overall I eat very healthy? Do I have a major blockage
(maybe)? What? I’m definitely urinating a lot, but just not giving up the
other. Hopefully by tonight I will have a lot more progress. That’s one of the
main reasons why I’m doing this. I’m doing this to clean out and clean up, so I
can reboot.

Well, that’s it for now. I’ll report more later. Have a
blessed day!

I can't believe that this time is already here. It seems like only yesterday that Brad was just a little kid playing, laughing, and learning, and being with his family all the time. Now he's all grown, and off on his own. I miss him lots, but I'm so proud of him too, and so happy for him. He's worked very hard to be where he's at. I wish him all the best on his new adventure, and his continued journey called "life".

So now that I'm dealing with the "empty nest", I started off by converting the room into an office/studio. I'm looking forward to finding the time to blog more, post more recipes, and to start painting again. I realized after getting the room all set up that I also needed a physical reboot. After having such a challenging few years, handling my mother-in-law's cancer, letting go of our house, helping my husband through the loss of his mother, moving, moving my son, and just the typical day to day balancing of life's events, I realized that although I eat quite well, I hadn't been getting enough rest, exercise, and stress relief that I looked like hell.

I decided to start the Master Cleanse and get a fresh start. I'm only on day 2.5, but I already feel like I'm on my way to getting back into raw fit shape. People probably wonder how I could let myself fall back after working so hard. How I could let 5 years go by way side, just to start again. Well I'm here to tell yo that I didn't necessarily let all go to way side. I still eat a high raw food diet. However, all things must be in balance. Rest, exercise, stress relief, relaxation, good food, the right balance of food, and harmony with your environment all need to be in constant check and balance in order to truly thrive. Sometimes when you put others and others things before you, it leads to imbalance. It happens. If you are a mother or father, or the caretaker of a loved one, you will know what I mean. Fortunately the body can be resilient, so there is always hope...I know that first hand.

So with this reboot I have a few goals to reach again. Sadly, I have gained my weight back, and although I'm eating very healthfully, I can't seem to lose any of it. My skin looks great, my nails and hair are thick and strong, but the weight is still on. I'm hoping this cleanse will activate the "weight loss" cycle for me. The other challenge I've been struggling with again is my IBS, and chronic back pain. Fortunately the IBS is slowly getting back under control. Although I feel I may have a hernia, or blockage, the cleanse will tell. If not, I'll be off to the doctor getting it checked for sure. The back pain is a sign to me of not only age, but that I have a lot of inflammation in my body. So I'm going to have to work extra hard to tackle this. Overall I feel good, but these chronic issues can make some days very unpleasant. I did start exercising again about two months ago, but still having some issues with flexibility due to the inflammation. And of course, the big topic is sleep. I'm still dealing with trying to get enough rest. One thing is for sure, I've been relaxing a lot more the past few days. Anxiety is slowly minimizing itself.

Well, I need to close for now and get to work. I plan to keep a journal of my cleanse and reboot. More to come later.

Blessings to you all. Here's to your health!
The past year and a half have been quite bumpy, and even though it seems many a time that I feel like I'm stuck or going backwards - I'm really not. I have actually been moving forward but a slow pace. I take with me new challenges, desires, and a whole wealth of good and valuable life information.

Over a year ago I wrote out my "goal card" and have read it religiously every day, and carried it close to me every day as well. The time came on September 17th for me to review the card so that I could evaluate the accomplishments to back-up that goal, and determine where the realignment needs to come. In looking back over the year I have definitely grown, but still dealing with emotional, and habitual behavior that needs to be healed so I can truly get past it and achieve my dreams. At least this time around I have a better grip on it, and know what I need to do for myself. I just have to break the obsessive compulsive need to let go of the behavior and emotions so I can feel confident in the change and embrace the benefits of the new path.

Sorry to sound so mysterious, but some things I must keep to myself to protect those I love. I can still share the feelings I have and the lessons I'm learning, without getting into dramatic detail. Needless to say, because of this bumpy road over the past year and a half, my health has somewhat regressed. Not that I don't eat healthy still - because I do! I still am a passionate advocate of eating a diet high in raw and living foods. I truly believe people need to eliminate all the processed foods from their diet as much as possible, in every way possible. When I have had my diet "cheats" they have not been too bad. However, I would prefer I didn't do them as much. I find myself eating these cheats when my energy is low, or my emotions are low -- that's not good! The one health area where I have been suffering the most, has not been so much from my diet, but from my lack of REST, EXERCISE, and MENTAL AND PHYSICAL RELAXATION. You can't be healthy on food alone!

The exercise fell out of my schedule back in December of 2009, and just went to "0" from there. My yoga teacher, for economic reasons, could no longer teach at the rec center I went to. Although there were other classes I could have taken, I preferred her style, and her schedule for my needs. So, I didn't take time to find another class, and basically stopped altogether. I stopped exercising at home, due to lack of interest or being mentally wiped from work and life's challenges. Work has been stressful due to economics, and the seriousness of the financial hardship from the economic climate has taken a big toll on me personally and my family as well. Yet, through all of this, it has actually brought me closer to my family, and to my desires. So even though I've gained back practically all the weight I lost, and even though we are struggling financially to stay afloat - I have so much to be grateful for, and I am!

I still have very good health. Because I do eat a diet high in raw and living food, I have managed to protect myself from a lot of the ailments I suffered from before - I could definitely do better with exercise and rest! Because I do have a job, I'm able to keep our family going, even if it's not as stable as we'd like. Because of my faith in God, and my passion to protect and grow with my family, I am learning ways to better deal with our struggles, and to help bring us all closer to feeling at peace. I'm not saying the challenge is over, or that we are miraculously going to be saved. We still have a lot of work cut out for us, and it's a slow process, that we must be very patient and persistent with. I just know that someday this too shall pass, and we can look back on it and truly appreciate what we have gained from this experience, and what we are benefiting from it now. So, that's why I'm writing about this.

I want you all to know, and I want myself to know, that just because the outside of me looks like I'm down and out, scared and insecure - I'm really not. I'm just going through life's ups and downs, and realigning myself for better things. It can be a slow process. The most important thing is not to force it, or try to control the outcome. Just follow the path before you, always working towards that ultimate goal, that genuine passion, that divine path that makes you stronger, happier, and at peace. I'm on my way. Believe me.

Have a wonderful and grateful life, filled with peace, love and happiness.

Peace! =)
I know it's been a while again. I'm sure you are used to my slacker blogging by now. Lol...

Anyway, I had to tell you about the best "field trip" I have had in a long time! Yesterday, my friend invited me to go with her to visit a sustainable farm in Scottsdale, Arizona called Singh Farms. This place was something out of "Wonderland" I kid you not!!! The minute we pulled up I was in Heaven! Singh Farms is by far the most beautiful farm I have ever had the pleasure of visiting. It is laid out in such a creative and beautiful way, you can't help but be in total "Awe!" when you see it. There places to sit and view, and many paths to venture through. There are a few animal pens that are also creatively setup - as if you were inside the page of a storybook. Plus lots and lots of varieties of herbs, vegetables, fruits, and native dessert plants all joined together in this wondrous fantasy land called Singh Farms.

In addition to the beautiful farmland to walk through and enjoy, each weekend they have a different restaurant come and visit and prepare delicious gourmet delights using only the wonderful foods found on the farm to share with the public. It's better than a wine tasting party! We had the opportunity to enjoy appetizing dishes from the chefs of the Phoenix Sheraton. We enjoyed hummus with freshly made pita chips, a fantastic salad with a delicious dressing, grilled eggplant, flat bread with goat cheese, and a wonderful pumpkin slice that was prepared with orange rind, orange juice, sage, and raw honey. My mouth, my stomach, and all my senses were in absolute Heaven! "Yes," I did cheat and had some of the fabulous flat bread with goat cheese. You would have too! It's all from the farm.

I got to meet a wonderful French chef and restaurant owner that helps out at the farm, Chef Aurore de Beauduy, of the Vogue Bistro in Surprise, AZ. She was wonderful and so helpful too. We plan to make a trip to Surprise to visit her restaurant and dine with her in the near future. Everyone was so nice and wonderful. It was such an uplifting experience. We were all so intoxicated by the beauty and fun of it all, we didn't even care that the humidity was very high, and the air was super hot! It's July in Arizona - Monsoon time, it's hot! Yukky Hot!!!

Not only did we get to sample the guest restaurant food, we also got to sample the many different Artisan breads and butters that are freshly made on the farm. As well as taste some of the beautiful fresh greens and herbs. I felt like I was in a super candy store! It was incredible! I was so enchanted by it all, I brought home with me some fresh raw honey on the honeycomb, dried jazz cherries, some fresh spicy herbs, Artisan bread made with figs, and some herb butter. Now mind you, I haven't had butter in three years, but this is real butter - made fresh on the farm, hand churned. They don't use electricity here. It's truly an Eco-friendly farm.

I was such the tourist, I took so many pictures just so I could share them all with you! I would definitely go back again, and again! I can't wait for Fall to see what goodies they will have then. If you would like to learn more about Singh Farms, you read this review that was posted on the Yelp site. Oh, I almost forgot. After finishing our great trip to Singh Farm's we went to a nearby spice store called Penzeys Spices. The aroma alone will draw you in. It's fabulous! I realize that I'm truly running out of steam from not sleeping. I'm so happy that school is almost done for the year, and that my son will not have his crazy schedule until the Fall. That means I can finally relax a little and work on getting back on track. I'd like to start sleeping better - at least 6-8 hours, instead of this daily 4-5 hours...it's literally killing me!

Another thing that is really starting to get to me is the fact that I have put on some weight again. That's right, me the health advocate - raw foodist, yada-yada-yada...has put on the pounds. I finally weighed myself so I could have a true reality check. Guess what? OMG - I've gained enough to weigh in at 170 lbs. I am so upset with myself. The one thing I'm grateful for in all this is the fact that my weight is well distributed, so I don't look as heavy as I am - but I can feel it, and I am.

I haven't been doing my yoga in weeks, no sleep...although I've been eating plenty of fresh greens, veggies, and fruit, and having my daily smoothies - I've been cheating on processed organic chips, Ezekiel flour-less bread and tortillas, and the occasional offerings from coworkers (no meat - all vegan, but not the healthiest choice by my standards!) Basically I've been eating too much! So my digestive tract is a mess, I'm bloated, having IBS issues, pretty much all the symptons I so proudly rid myself of when I took the vow to be a healthy raw foodist back in 2007 are slowly finding their way back into my daily life - YIKES!!!!!!

I know, in addition to the lack of healthy habits these days...and again, I'm not eating meat, or processed canned or boxed foods...I'm eating too much, too many fats, sugars, (all natural or not), and eating too late! No exercise, no sleep, excessive stress - yes, lots of stress!

That was the other part of my reality check. I've been under an extreme amount of stress lately. Some is self-inflicted, while some of it is circumstantial. Regardless, I am out of WHACK! How can I possibly think I can coach others around me, if I can't even manage myself? Or perhaps that's exactly what I need to do...help coach another near to me, while empowering myself to also heal.

I know that part of my need to eat more is the lack of sleep and exercise. So obviously I need to get more rest. Part of not getting enough rest is the combination of circumstantial and self-inflicted stress. Time management, prioritizing what's important, and learning that I can only do so much. I can't be any help to others, if I can't help myself. I need to be healthy to be of service to others. So I definitely need some major rehab! Funny think about that...I am a member of a great "rehab" community, Raw Food Rehab - yet I haven't been very disciplined in making time to follow the recommendations and take the loving support available. I need to do so.

Here's my wish list for healing:
more sleep - at least 6 to 8 hours a night
more exercise - yoga at least 2-3 times a week, bike ride at least once a week, brisk walks at least 4-5 times a week
less non-raw treats (no more organic chips or flour-less Ezekiel breads, only splurge once a month)
less food per day - only eat when truly hungry, drink more of my food than eat it, minimize the raw treats, incorporate more mono raw foods for snacking, drink lots and lots and lots of water, don't eat after 7pm (dinner smoothie)
find ways to reduce circumstantial stress - get a second job to help reduce financial burdens, work on increasing revenue streams online through my site, and my books, reduce my footprint by finding more eco ways to service my family and myself, take time out for myself to relax and enjoy just being...

It may very well be that there is something else going on with me and my digestion. Anything I eat, anything, lately, has been making me immediately bloat. I feel like the food and drink is going in, but is stuck in a holding tank and won't pass through. I become constipated, and extremely uncomfortable and toxic - and this is eating fresh wholesome raw foods. Granite, the few cheats I've been doing, the lack of rest, and the amount of food will definitely cause these problems too. I just need to get back on track, and start healing again!

Here's an example of how uncomfortable I've been lately. I started this post last night, and now it's morning. The only thing I have put in my stomach so far is my lemon water with MSM. I'm not even done drinking it. My stomach is so swollen right now - seriously! I can't wait to pass whatever is stuck in my gut and making me feel this way. I need "liquid plumber"!

Well, the good news is today is Monday, and the beginning of the last week of school for my son. This means soon I will have an opportunity to start re-prioritizing my life and start healing. It's also a three-day weekend coming up - which is great for me too!

Obviously I'll keep you posted. But for now, that's it. Thank you for reading, and letting me vent. Have a terrific Monday, and a super happy and fulfilling week!!!

Peace!=)
For instance, I have several blogs, which I love participating in all of them. However, I have not been able to manage a balance of posting on all of them. So what I start doing is posting and posting and posting on one, and neglect the others...then I start posting and posting on another and neglect the one. I'm kind of doing here. This was my first blog, but I had ignored it for the most part for several months with just the occasional post. Now I'm on this kick, so I'm post practically every day. Meanwhile I have neglected my recipe blog, and some other blogs. But it's hard to post all the time if you don't know what to blog about...

It's okay. I just have to go with the flow...

So, as far as proper eating goes, I've been fair. Again, I always manage to eat plenty of greens, and do well with eating mostly raw and living foods all day long. My issue is I ended up eating more than I should in a day, eating late (cause I don't sleep enough), and then sneaking in chips, and too many bars (organic or not, raw or not) too much salt and fat...and I'm not getting enough exercise. I truly miss my yoga...I know I'm somewhat out of balance at this time. That's why the weight isn't coming off, and that's why I'm having the occasional stomach issues. Plus I know that stress from my life is also adding the challenges.

The good news (and I'm sorry if I sound like a broken record) is that I know this too shall pass. School is almost done, I'm getting a handle on what I can and can't do, and I'm showing signs of progress of focusing on what I want to truly manifest and how I'm going to balance my life to do so. I'm doing some of it now, I just can't do it all at the same time...I'm wearing myself out!

As for what I ate, it's pretty much the usual...I don't divert too much during the work week. So the weekend should be more creative! As usual, I've run out of time, and need to get ready for work. I do plan to write more this weekend. Hopefully, I'll have more to write about that has substance. These journal entries of mine are a little to repetitive and winy...so I want to clean it up a bit!

I hope you all have a fabulous Friday!!! Thank you for reading and showing your support, even when my posts get tiresome... =)

Peace!=)
I did just post a fun "21 Raw Questions" response to a great blog post by Bitt of Bitt of Raw blog. You should check it out for yourself.

As for eating and life, well, I honestly can't remember all that I ate yesterday. I do believe I had my usual smoothies in the morning and the evening - same with today. I know I had my salad roll-ups both yesterday and today, and my fruit bowls, and my raw cacao balls, and raw crackers. I cheated on chips (as I seem to keep doing), and had my tea (I'm actually having a cup right now). So, nothing different or unusual for me. However, the one thing that's still constant is I'm not getting to bed early enough for the time I rise in the morning, and I'm eating late cause of it. In fact, it's 11:16pm right now. I know, I should stop and go to bed right now. Easier said than done. I need to wind down first.

Plus, I didn't get my exercise in. I do plan to make a super effort to do yoga tomorrow after work. So I really need to stick to my guns on this! I know that once school is out for Summer, and the stress on my son is lessened, the anxiety will become minimal, and I will be more relieved as well. Dealing with a super intelligent, teen-aged son with OCD can be challenging. Especially when the mother (me), has OCD too. =)

On another note, I'm feeling pretty good about my direction, and my future. I just need to focus on cleaning up those things around me that keep me from moving forward. I feel I can do a better job at that, now that the fear is gone. Plus, positive affirmations always help too!

I don't know if you knew this, but I have another blogsite, www.LifeElementsRawk.com, for the purpose of marketing and selling Elements for Life products. They are the wonderful raw super foods that many raw foodies like myself distribute. However, I will confess, I am the only one buying for myself. I've been a distributor now for about a year. I absolutely love the products, but they are a bit pricey. It's difficult during these economic times to continue with anything that isn't creating the return that's needed, and is more of a financial burden. As for this particular venture, I'm on a fence. I didn't make my required monthly purchase in April due to lack of funds. I will probably lose my distributorship and my initial investment if I don't make it soon. I just don't have it to spare right now. Then I think to myself that maybe I should just let it lapse, and consider it in the future. I have enjoyed the products, but really can't afford to keep up with the purchase requirements - especially if I'm not selling any. It kind of reminds me of Amway.

Plus, there are so many individuals out there that are distributing these products too. Perhaps they are also having the same issues as me, I'm not sure. I just know that it's not passive income for me, and costing me more right now. I have some major goals...one of them is to rid myself of any unnecessary debt, including unsecured debts. This is most challenging, and will take some time. However, I'm also trying to offset that by increasing my income through multiple streams of revenue. Writing, publishing, and selling raw books is one of those streams. So far that's working, and I'm glad. It's actually helped raise money to help pay our mortgage two months in a row. You see, right now we are a one-family income (my income), and have been for about 8 months. It's been a struggle, but we are managing. I know that this too shall pass, but in the meantime I need to stay focused on getting through it.

My other goal is to be more involved with educating others on the benefits of a living and whole food lifestyle, specifically a high raw food diet lifestyle. I want to help with the efforts to provide better lunches to our children, and to help others help themselves to minimize if not rid themselves altogether of deadly diseases and illnesses that are a direct link to food and lifestyle. To do this I want to improve my own education and lifestyle, so I can be more effective. That is why it's so important for me to take care of these immediate needs I have.

I also want to help my son to achieve his personal goals through education, and experiences. College is just around the corner, so we need to prepare the best we can. Brad is an amazing kid. I know he will do well in life, regardless of the challenge. I'm so happy that he wants me to be a big part of his life. =)

I have other goals as well, but first things first. Health, which means eating habits, rest, and exercise. Then finances, reduce financial burdens by eliminating unnecessary debts and expenses. And focus on service and personal direction...you get the idea.

Well, I think I have exhausted this post, it's time for bed! Have a great night, and thanks for stopping by!

Peace!=)
I think this is such a fun and great way to get to know fellow food bloggers. Please join in the fun, read through my post, and then post your own personal answers on your blog to share!

1. Favorite Raw Vegan milk? I love making raw almond milk, but I prefer coconut water most of all.

2. What are the top 3 recipes you are planning to make? I’d like to make one of the delicious recipes in Heathy’s new e-book "Ultimate Ice Cream Cake" e-Book and enter her newest raw food challenge. I’d also like to make some more cupcakes from Shannonmarie’s latest e-book “The Little Rawdorable Cupcake Book that Could”. Also, I’d like to experiment and make my own raw energy bars using a variety of superfoods, sprouted buckwheat; and of course, raw cacao. I’ll let you know later how that turns out.

3. Most disastrous recipe/meal failure? I remember over a year ago I found a recipe for raw “mock” version of macaroni and cheese, so I decided to make that. As I always do, I changed up the recipe before trying it as is…oh my YUK!!! It even looked gross!!! Lol…

4. How do you organize your recipes? Being that I’m a hoarder, I try to organize, but I get obsessive so I have all my recipes on my pc in a folder mark recipes, and online on my website. However the ones on my pc, if not named properly (which I’m terrible at), they get lost…if you know what I mean. Oh, and I have note cards by the 100’s of my “chicken scratch” writing of recipes I tried. However, they are in a pile. Then I have printed e-books, recipes, etc...I told you I’m a hoarder. Organization is a goal that may never be truly met!

5. Compost, trash, or garbage disposal? Well, we don’t have a place for compost. However, don’t laugh, we freeze all our “food” trash, and then toss it out on trash day. We recycle all the paper, plastic, and glass, that is acceptable too. Oh, and we clean our trash before throwing it out. I know, we are obsessed…we really are – we are a family of OCD sufferers…no joke!

6. If you were stranded on an island and could only bring 3 foods...what would they be? Wow! Why do I have to choose…I could sit here for hours trying to decide... Let’s see, okay, I would definitely want coconuts – but if it’s an island I’d hope there would be coconuts there. I would definitely want a whole boat load of kale, hemp, and cacao!

8. Favorite raw ice cream? My very own home-made raw cacao ice cream! I love my cacao!!!

9. Most loved kitchen appliance? It would be a Vitamix or a Blendtec, if I owned one…so I’d have to say it’s my Cuisinart Blender.

10. Spice/herb you can't be without? I can’t be without Mint, and Vanilla. They are tied!

11. Recipe (Cook) book you have owned for the longest time? The first and oldest raw recipe book I have owned is Juliano’s RAW. I bought that book early in the Millennium before I even knew what a raw diet and lifestyle was. I bought it for the unique recipes, and beautiful pictures. It was somewhat of a coffee table book for me.

12. Favorite flavor of jam/jelly? I’m not big into jellies and jams. I’d have to say coconut cream butter, or raw honey.

13. Favorite raw (vegan) recipe to serve to an omni-friend? Raw desserts always work best for omni-friends. I always make up a bunch of raw treats, especially ones with raw cacao and serve them up to my coworkers and family members. They love it!!! That gets them to try some of the other stuff too, such as raw crackers, chips, and some entrees. It really does work that way!

15. Name 3 items in your freezer without looking. Durian, cherries, mango slices.

16. Favorite grocery store? It’s tied between Whole Foods and Trader Joes. Before they opened the Whole Foods near me, all I had was Trader Joes. I’ve been going there since 1998 – a very long time. They know me by name!

17. Food blog you read the most. Don’t make me choose…I have way too many, that I absolutely adore! Some of them I’ve been reading for a couple of years now. It’s incredible all the wonderful talented and giving people out there in cyberspace!

18. What is one ingredient that you've become familiar with that you can't imagine you ever lived without? I have to agree with Fayinagirl of Gluten-Free Vegan Family, it’s Coconut Water!

19. Most coveted condiment? I’m not real big into condiments, so I don’t really have an opinion at this time.

20. Best food smell? I love the smell of raw cacao, and coconut.

21. Best cooked food memory that you'd like to re-create raw? I’m really not to sure what I’d pick any more. I would like to try to create a chocolate custard éclair, or even a light, fluffy bread. I really don’t know…it’s whatever the mood will take me at the time of preparation…

Thanks Bitt! This was lots of fun!!! =)
